For over 34 years, Barrels Unlimited has been exporting new and used barrels to distilleries in foreign markets. Exporting efforts continue to expand every year, providing countries worldwide with quality barrels that help create unique, rich flavors for their wine, beer and spirits.

Barrels Unlimited works year-round purchasing barrels from distilleries in North America. These barrels are selected or repaired at our Charlestown, Indiana cooperage and sold to other distilleries worldwide.

Shipped by overseas container, the barrels are purchased by contract and prepaid in the form of a wire transfer directly to our bank. Often, the barrels are not shipped whole but as "shooks" — broken down, numbered staves — and reassembled when they reach their destination. By shipping in this manner, a greater number of barrels can be loaded into a container. Once they are reassembled, the barrels are used for the aging of spirits overseas.
